Boarding sword/ cutlass M1847
  • aaaa

Italy

473
sword

This 1847 ( sometimes called M 1845) Naval Cutlass of the Kingdom Sardinian-Piedmont is from German Manufacture, of Post - Napoleonic aera and is marked on the ricasso
A & L HOLLER SOLINGEN.

On the other side of the ricasso, as well as on the brass mouth of the scabbard, it has the stamp F.C.
It is mounted with a straight blade that measures 26 3/4 inches in length which is in superb condition.
No rost, damage or cutting to the blade. Fabulous. The all steel cup guard in black colour paint finish has some dings due to the age only visible when you look close or on the near taken picture, but does remain nice with no dings in the metal.

The leather scabbard is brass fitted, showing very light wear, but remains in really good condition with all stitching intact no wholes or damage.

Overall measuring a bit over 82 cm in length.

Those cutlasses in that exquisit condition with that good scabbard are offered very seldom.

M1889

Switzerland

471
knife

First model from a line of Swiss Schmidt-Rubin bayonets. It was an inspiration for US Krag bayonet. It was later developed to 1899 model and 1889/18 modification, by adding fuller modifications that were to help retain the blade in the scabbard.

Hirschfanger 71 for private use with horn grips
  • aaaa

Germany

467
sword

Rare hirschfanger M1871 in private/hunting adaptation. Horn grips are fixed with 3 rivets. Handle, spring and spring button are numbered - so it is not totally "private" manufacture. Blade is marked with "G" and producer - Jung, and date 67. The pommel is somehow thicker then in other example I own, and it is round around the mortise slot, not flat as in most examples. The scabbard is in perfect condition, original 19th century manufacture. I wondered if it is original but came to conclusion it is - beside the above details this bayonet is known to vary greatly in details.
